ILLEGAL (2)

Just down from Evenlode DIY on High Street, a roofing company has had scaffolding constructed which completely blocks the pavement. It is normal in such circumstances to cone off an area of road to create a walkway for pedestrians but this has not been done. I suspect a traffic order may be required to do this so they haven't bothered.

I believe they also blocked off a section in front of the White Hart in Newland Street for some months last summer. Guess no one thought to report it.

Where scaffolding blocks the footway, as it does in this instance, provision should be made for pedestrians to ‘bypass’ the obstruction. We shall be taking this up with the contractor. Paul Wilson, Deputy Area Engineer
